January 31, 2011-January 31, 2016...Five Beautiful Years at Journey to Hope
January 31, 2011....our very first day in business. And now here we are on January 31, 2016. Five years later, nearly 1000 clients later and God has proven to be bigger than all of our dreams with Journey to Hope. We are blessed indeed. Long had been my dream of having a counseling private practice. As I considered the empty spaces of Journey to Hope before there was any furniture, I remember walking the room and praying for any and all who might come. And praying that they would indeed come. On January 31, we opened the doors and our schedule was completely full. This beautiful phenomenon has continued to occur every single week from then until now. The faithfulness of God to us has allowed us to hold hope for others until they can hope again.
It is still my habit as soon as I arrive at the office to pause a moment at each chair and pray over whoever might come in, what they are facing, and for God to be greater in their lives as we journey together. That my words will be His words. Praying with a client is also the way I end each session, asking for God to strengthen and protect them until I see them again. So very thankful to be at the beginning of a new year and I can't wait to see what God will do in all of our lives. Blessings, Susie
Day 5 and We are Still Celebrating!
Day 5 and we are still celebrating, and we have added hopeful snowmen!!! Encouraging words about our work, our vision and our care for people follow from two more of our staff, Rosemarie and Drew. Thankful for each one of you💙 for the work that is done behind the scenes of Journey to Hope and face to face with clients!
From Rosemarie Jones:
Happy Anniversary! Susie, Andy, Sharla, Drew, Laura, Carlie, Doug and Liz, my heart celebrates with you. I'm so thankful and honored to be a part of such an amazing place called Journey to Hope!
JTH is like an anchor on a big ship. The big waves roar threatening to sink you into a place where you think there is no Hope. But here comes JTH and throws you a rope of Hope and little by little lifts you up to a safe place. In time, you are grounded, securely anchored in Hope and ready to face any big wave in life that threatens to drown you. So many beautiful people who find themselves broken through the unexpected, or struggling & hurt for what ever reason, with no Hope of tomorrow have came through the doors of JTH. And when they come, they find a place of safety, full of God's Hope, love, grace & acceptance. Beautiful are the feet of those who carry good news...that is JTH ... carrying the good news of Hope & giving it to everyone who comes into JTH. Shine on, JTH, Shine on...and to God Be the Glory, Great Things He has Done and will continue to do at JTH !! Happy 5th Anniversary my beloved JTH.💙
From Drew Walden:
While I've been primarily working in the background of Journey to Hope for the last five years, the same spirit and care and love for people that started the practice 5 years ago continues today. I know that so many lives are touched and continue to change for the better through the tireless work of Journey to Hope. While updates to the website experienced a pause with the surprise birth of my daughter, we have worked hard to offer a hosting platform and client friendly domain that will enable us to extend care, outreach and support to the Journey to Hope Community for years to come.
Day 4 Our 5 Year Celebration continues
Day 4 and the celebration continues... Here are some more thoughts from our staff about our 5 year anniversary! thankful for each of you. You enrich our lives and the lives of our clients.
From Laura:
"In an age of instant digital communications and social networking, Journey to Hope offers deep meaningful connections and relationships. Sure, we enjoy laughing at our animal videos from time to time, but over the last 5 years I strain to remember a time in the office where the question of how are you or what's new wasn't a genuine question wanting as honest an answer as I was willing to give. To have such steady and faithful godly relationships for such a long stretch of time fills a part of my heart that has always craved meaningful connections with others. To know by experience that all our clients are being given that kind of love in their sessions, an hour of face to face communication rooted in loving faith, is to fully understand what makes Journey to Hope special and different from other counseling offices. Ours really is a special team to be a part of!"
From Carlie
"I am so grateful to be apart of celebrating Journey to Hope's five year anniversary! I feel very blessed to be a new part of this journey, and to hear stories of the life change that has occurred within the walls of this counseling agency. Susie, Andy, and Sharla have poured heart and soul into making this a place where everyone can feel welcome and are able to experience healing. Again, I am very grateful for the opportunity to join Journey to Hope and I am anticipating what the next five years will look like! I cannot wait to see how God continues to use Journey to Hope to impact this community and see hope restored to many lives and families."
From Liz:
"Happy 5th Anniversary, Journey To Hope! From the newest member of the team……I just have to let everyone know……. JTH is the real deal! As soon as you walk through the doors you become family. Enthusiasm, love and hope live here. As John 16:33b says “ In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world.” You never need to walk life alone. Can't wait to see the exciting future that God has in store for JTH and its family! Congratulations again!!!!"
Day 3 of our Anniversary Celebration
Day 3 and the 5 year celebration continues! Yesterday, we had a rare but very welcome visit from our Chief Information Officer, Drew Walden. The government being closed worked out well for us! Drew is responsible for our amazing website design and management, our newsletter and everything web related. So very thankful for him and all he does for Journey to Hope. Also, every client who walks through the doors this week gets a special thank you gift, some great celebration food, and a chance to write what Journey to Hope means to them💙
